About Us

The PORT Teen Center opened in 2006 in the lower level of the Freeport Community Center at 53 Depot St. We have a large space that is perfect for studying or for socializing, and we have wi-fi capability for laptop users. Our recreation area has ping-pong, pool, air hockey, and foosball, as well as a flat-screen tv with an Xbox and a stereo system with a port for your iPod. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase.

Mission Statement

The PORT is a youth-driven teen center which provides a safe, enriching, and dynamic atmosphere for area teenagers. We provide a place in which teens can explore new ideas, new skills, and new friendships. The PORT strives to provide a hip, chem-free alternative in the social life of teenagers, as well as offering educational opportunities to expand their intellectual, emotional, and physical lives.

Vision Statement

The PORT Teen Center will be a constant presence in the lives of teens in the Freeport, Durham, and Pownal communities. Through dedication and focused commitment we will aim to build a strong and successful organization which strives to nurture and enrich the lives of teens.

The PORT will be a partner with the greater community. Through strong partnerships, we will achieve outstanding service and foster an atmosphere of trust, trust, sharing, and innovation to best serve youth in our community.

The PORT will be a leader in providing creative activities and valuable opportunities to help improve the quality and direction of our patrons’ lives.

The PORT will be a friend to youth and become a valued part of each person’s life. Teens are the core of our organization and we exist to play a relevant and useful role in their lives.

The PORT will be a supporter of the dreams and aspirations of our patrons. Working together, we will contribute in a positive manner to the teen culture of our community, strive to create a bridge between the teenagers and the greater community, and celebrate that which is unique about the adolescent years.
